Privacy Policy
In short: Şarj Ne Kadar? needs no account, shows no ads, does not track you and, on the web site, uses analytics only if you accept (the iOS app's usage statistics are described below). Your car, profile and charge log stay on your device or in your own iCloud account; we cannot see them.
This policy covers the sarjnekadar.com web site and the Şarj Ne Kadar iOS app.
Web site
- Stored in your browser: your chosen car, optional name, car name and plate, charge log, monthly budget, and language and map preferences are kept in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to our server. Clearing your browser data removes them.
- Location: if you allow it, the location your browser reports is used to start a route where you are and to centre the map. It is not stored.
- Routing: the coordinates of your start and destination are sent to our own routing server to calculate the route.
- Address search: the text you type into the search box, and coordinates when looking up an address for a location, are sent to Photon, an OpenStreetMap based service run by Komoot GmbH.
- Map and traffic: map tiles load from OpenFreeMap. If you turn on the detailed traffic flow in the iOS app, traffic tiles are fetched from TomTom through our server; TomTom receives only tile numbers, not your IP address. The website has no traffic layer.
- Opening another app: if you choose a link such as "Open in Google Maps", your route points go to that service and its privacy policy applies.
- Cookies: analytics cookies are stored only if you accept (see "Web site analytics" below). We use no other cookies.
Web site analytics
To measure how the site is used we may use Google Analytics, a service of Google Ireland Limited, but only when you choose "Accept". Before that, no request is sent to Google and no analytics cookie is stored. If you accept, Google receives your page views, an approximate location (country and city level) that Google derives from your IP address, and browser and device information, and Google Analytics cookies (starting with _ga) are stored in your browser. Advertising storage and personalisation permissions are kept denied.
We keep your choice in your browser's local storage. You can change it or withdraw consent at any time with the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of the page; once withdrawn, analytics sending stops and Google Analytics cookies are deleted.
iOS app
- On your device and in your iCloud: your profile (name, car name, plate), car and route settings, recent addresses and charge log are kept on your device. If iCloud is on, they are backed up to the private area of your own iCloud account and appear on devices signed in to the same Apple Account. We have no access to this data.
- Location: used only while you use the app and with your permission, to start routes, show nearby chargers and give directions in driving mode. Driving mode may use location in the background to keep following the route while the phone is locked. Your location is not stored on our server.
- Routes and search: routes and address search use Apple Maps, under Apple's privacy policy. If Apple Maps finds no route, the start and destination coordinates are sent to our own routing server as a fallback.
- Weather and elevation: when a route is planned, the coordinates of points along it and the times the car passes them are sent to our server, to adjust the consumption estimate for temperature and hills. Our server gets elevation and temperature from Open-Meteo, which does not receive your IP address. Route points are not stored on our server; only elevation values per rounded coordinate are cached. You can turn this off in the route options.
- Adding a charge from a receipt or screenshot: the text in the image you pick is read with Apple's on-device text recognition; neither the image nor the text leaves your device. The app does not access your photo library, only the image you choose.
- Siri, Shortcuts and widget: questions you ask through Siri and Shortcuts are answered inside the app, on your device. The Home Screen widget reads your monthly charging spend from the app on your device.
- Data updates: the app downloads station, tariff and vehicle data from sarjnekadar.com. These requests carry nothing that identifies you.
Station suggestions
When you suggest a missing charger, the station name, network, map position, socket types, power and note you enter are stored on our server. No name, email or device identifier is taken with a suggestion. To limit abuse, your IP address is held only in server memory, as an irreversible hash, for about an hour before it is deleted, and is never written to storage. Suggestions we approve are published on the public map.
Station status reports
When you say a charger is working or out of order, the station's identifier, your answer, its time and the platform you used (web or iOS) are stored on our server, and a summary of the last seven days is shown to everyone. No name, location or device identifier is taken with a report; your IP address is held only to limit abuse, in memory and for about an hour, as described for suggestions.
Charger notes and photos
When you add a note or photo to a charger, the station's identifier, your note, the photo, its time and the platform are stored on our server. The app saves the photo again before sending it, which removes metadata such as its location. Notes and photos are shown to everyone only after we review and approve them. We do not publish photos in which faces or plates can be read.
Sharing your arrival time
When you share your arrival time in driving mode, your destination's name, the estimated arrival, the distance left and the name of the next charging stop are stored on our server, and anyone with the link can see them. Your location and route are not sent. Sharing stops when the drive ends and is deleted after a day.
Server logs
Our servers may keep standard access logs, such as IP address, time and requested path, for a limited period for security and troubleshooting. They are not used for any other purpose or shared with third parties.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share personal data for advertising. The services named above receive only what is needed to provide the feature in question.
Children
The service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
